I was sreoilusy at DefCon 5 until I saw this post.

It's TURN and run get it right dbag

Push the pig's groove is real tight in the begining. I laughed my ass off during Andy's Last Beer when they counted out the beat cuz the crowd was out of time, haha. The vocals on Hit and Run were tight and pretty balanced, which umph is hit and miss on sometimes when it comes to the live mix recording(live sound is always good though); also this tune seemed more polished than previous live attempts. They set such a high bar with the studio versions of all the Mantis material that doing all that shit live is ridumphlious. Dump Bright City Lights was transitioned very well with a nice bit of sax sprinkled on there to make it a tasty umph sandwich. Wife Soup was amazing. It ended the set perfectly with wide dynamics, meshing sections, and once again balanced vocals. Eat had a Hells Bells intro and went right into Baba O which was covered nicely. That shifted into this shuffley groove for a bit and then went back into Eat. Eat is always bad ass. Wappy was heavy as always, which is how I like umph best. I liked this Mantis recording; I'm learning to appreciate the raw intensity of the live vocals compared to the polished sound of the studio vocals. The first time I heard Mantis live I was expecting that but it still caught me off guard. I think they are finding a good balance as they play it more live. Front Resolution Porch was great, but I feel sorry for anyone that trips during Resolution, haha. The happy groove gets interupted by the freaky pink floydish moment a few times, haha, and I love it because you know it is coming but it is still shocking. Ending the show was a jammed out Syncopated Cemetery Strangers Walk. This is my favorite show of the year so far and I'm glad to see the Mantis tunes lengthening shaping up nicely.

hey steve they didnt notate that norwegian wood because they almost always do that in that song. It's more likely they would not it for not doing norwegian wood then notate it because of a norwegian wood jam. just thought id let you know.

This was my very first Umphrey's show...and I couldn't have been happier. My mind is still blown as to how many genres they can successful execute. I am not worthy, Umphrey's McGee

The second set was out of control. Even though not noted at the 20 second mark into Resolution they tease Beatles - Norwegian Wood. Baba O'Riley was sick sick and Kevin Sinclair from God Johnson tore it up on sax for the majority of the show, and then for the after party Histronic came out and jammed for a bit, then God Johnson came out, Jake from Umph came out and rocked out on drums with God Johnson, and then members from both God Johnson and Histronic with guests came out and rocked the stage performing two sick Talking Heads covers, Life After Wartime and Making Flippy Floppy. Overall Umphrey's rocked the cities and left me just craving more like usual. Thanks again Umphrey's for throwing another sick show!
